He has shared his research at the 9th Annual International Gender & Sexuality Studies Conference at Central Oklahoma University and the 2024 MMLA. Manny’s studies focus on social constructions of disability and normativity in 19th and 20th-century literature. He aims to challenge the myths and stereotypes that have historically marginalized people with disabilities.
Rana Aser is an undergraduate at the American University of Sharjah. Rana Aser's argumentative research essay explores themes of food, culture, and identity. The anxiety, heartbreak, and frustration of witnessing the ongoing genocide of her people drove Rana to shed light of the underrepresented aspects of Gaza's story.
Shama Baniebrahim is from the United Arab Emirates and is currently attending the American University of Sharjah for a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.
Nyx Bordováčová is an undergraduate student at Bratislava International School of Liberal Arts (BISLA), majoring in political science. Their current research (bachelor thesis) focuses on the gender roles enforced by Slovak literature textbooks used in high schools. They are one of the most visible Slovak asexual activists, spreading awareness through social media and beyond. In the future, they plan to research asexuality further, especially in the context of Slovakia.
Alison Eng is a fourth-year government student attending the University of Texas at Austin. She studies political philosophy in order to understand and find creative solutions for responding to the challenges facing modern liberal democracy. As President of BridgeTexas, the UT Austin chapter of the nonpartisan national organization BridgeUSA, Alison is passionate about promoting civil discourse, civic engagement, and open inquiry to build more compassionate political communities. Her academic interests include religion and politics, constitutional law, classical republicanism, Niccolò Machiavelli, and American political thought. She enjoys great books and great conversations.
Shelby Meek lives in Baltimore, Maryland, and is a senior obtaining her Bachelor of Arts with a Media Studies major and a Professional Writing minor at Goucher College. At Goucher College, she is a student-athlete for the women’s tennis team, a writing tutor for the Goucher College Writing Center, and a staff writer for her school’s newspaper, Quindecim. She is currently applying to graduate schools to achieve her goal of becoming an investigative journalist. In the summer of 2024, she interned at Baltimore Witness, where she tracked homicide and non-fatal shooting cases and wrote articles for their website.
